2016 Search for Miss Teenage Canada has officially begun!
I am a regional delegate from Ontario, so I arrived in Toronto a little early at 1:30 at the Holiday Inn at Pearson International Airport. Being one of the first girls there, I had time to sit down and really let it soak in that I was here, and it was happening! Lots of pictures were taken and it was very relaxed. I loved meeting all the girls, they were total sweethearts and I’m honored to be competing against them.
After all the girls showed up we began to get paired up for roommates. I was so excited! I couldn’t wait to meet the girl I was going to bond with for the next week. I got paired with Teneille, Miss Teenage East Central Alberta, A.K.A. my twin. Michelle really knows how to pick roomies!
Around 6:30, we headed back to the twelfth floor for the Opening Ceremonies of the 2016 Search for Miss Teenage Canada. The party was amazing. It was everything I had hoped it would be and more!
I had so much fun taking pictures with my Ontario girls, as well as trying out all the fun activities set up!
Nuvango created a shareable moment center by offering up some designer clothes and a full length mirror. In a room full of teenage girls, this was much appreciated. Later in the week our ensemble made a visit to their studio, where we got to try on some clothes for their new line, and have a photoshoot!
They also gave us a very informative tour of their building, showed us how they made all their products, and even gave us a backstory on how Nuvango started!
Sam Dhutia from Sweets Canada was at the party doing chocolate tastings. I may have had one (okay maybe more than one). Sam made a very informative and delicious chocolate tasting exhibit – after each sampling he generously gave out gourmet chocolate bars , and or edible flower chocolate bars, depending on each delegate’s individual preferences, as discovered during the tastings. I chose the white chocolate with cacao nibs and salted caramel, and I’m in love! Their chocolate is melt in your mouth delicious and the flavors are so creative!
Sweets Canada is on Twitter @SweetsCanadaCA and so is their parent company Q Foods Canada which tweets from @QFoodsCanada.
BATA SHOE MUSEUM
We visited the Bata Shoe Museum on Tuesday at 11:30. It was so cool to learn about all the different shoes from different cultures, and what they were used for. The most interesting part for me was the Chinese shoe binding. I had never heard of it before and my tour guide was very informative! I also got to look at various kinds of shoes up close, including one of Shaquille Oneil’s prototype shoes! Size 22 and double wide, so crazy!

BRADLEE RYALL GOLF ACADEMY
Another fun exhibit at the Opening Night Sponsors’ Party was from Bradlee Ryall Golf Academy which teaches golf lessons at six golf courses west of Toronto. Sadly, I did not get the ball in the hole and couldn’t compete in the finals. Sad face.
On Wednesday we went to the golf academy to play a one-hole golf game for two ladies golf jackets (which are prizes from SWING active wear) at the end of our group lessons on two different courses. Here at the party there was a live mini golf attraction set up for us to practice our putting. I really enjoyed the chipping and driving lessons! I’m not so good at putting but it was still a ton of fun with my pageant sisters!
There were free designer sunglasses from V.P.I. Canada, one pair for each regional delegate. I found the perfect pair to go with all my pageant outfits! Very thankful that V.P.I. will be keeping my eyes clear of the sun!
Here I am wearing my Mirrored Clubmaster Sunglasses (#2512) which you can find here! https://www.vpicanada.ca/SUNGLASSES/mirrored-clubmaster-sunglasses/ They are available on the V.P.I. website + taxes and shipping. I highly recommend them!
Hashtagio is a Social Media Aggregator and User Generated Marketing Platform that was at the show collecting all our social media tagged with the #MissTeenageCanada2016 and then projecting it live at the party. Even better, they make a single feed URL to which our parents and friends can subscribe to follow along in real time as we experience all the different activities here in Toronto. And the mass of spontaneously issued images and text from all 65 delegates will be archived on this page in the Miss Teenage Canada main site and on the Miss Teen Canada Blog Network / Search for Miss Teenage Canada 2016.
At the party there was a bow and arrow (with a giant marshmallow on the pointy end) and we all took turns trying to hit a paper target that was setup in the ballroom. We’ll ALL be playing Archery Tag in Toronto at Archers Arena on Thursday July 21st 2016. On that night, look for the hashtag #archerytag. I’m very excited to have a little bit of friendly competition with my girls before the busy weekend starts. The woman at this booth was very helpful in showing us girls how to hold the bow, because I was a little rusty. Really looking forward to this!
